Prices by Hotel Tier

Budget Guesthouses ($18–60/night)

Da Nang's budget tier is genuinely good. Clean rooms within 5–10 minutes of My Khe Beach exist for $20–35/night even in shoulder season. The floor doesn't drop much below $18 because Da Nang has strong domestic demand year-round. Peak season (July–August) pushes even basic guesthouses to $45–60, which is notable — budget travellers should book significantly ahead in summer or consider June/September as alternatives.

Mid-Range 3-Star ($50–130/night)

The most price-sensitive tier in terms of seasonal swing. A decent 3-star on or near My Khe runs $55–80 in shoulder season and $90–130 in July. The value proposition here is genuinely strong compared to equivalent beach destinations — $70/night for a clean, air-conditioned room with a pool, 5 minutes from the beach, compares well to Bali or Phuket equivalents at $90–120.

4-Star Beachfront ($85–220/night)

This tier includes properties like A La Carte, Four Points Sheraton, Muong Thanh Luxury, and TMS Hotel. In shoulder season (March–May) you can access genuine beachfront 4-star rooms for $95–130. The same rooms in July run $150–200. The A La Carte's rooftop infinity pool and direct beach access for $110/night in April is the benchmark for what the 4-star tier here can offer.

5-Star Resorts ($150–420/night)

The biggest seasonal swing in Da Nang. October prices at the Hyatt Regency (~$150–180) vs July prices ($280–350) represent a 70–80% gap for the same room. The reason: Vietnamese domestic summer holidays (July–August) drive very high demand across the Non Nuoc resort strip, and international demand peaks simultaneously. If you're targeting luxury, March–May and October–November (weather permitting) offer the best rate windows. Late December is also elevated due to Christmas/NYE demand.

Best Value Windows

March to May is the best overall value period for most travellers. The dry season is established, rates are 20–30% below July peaks, the beaches are less crowded, and the sea is at its best. This is the sweet spot that experienced Da Nang visitors tend to target. April in particular — good weather nearly guaranteed, rates still below peak, and no major Vietnamese holidays inflating prices.

October and November offer genuinely cheap hotel rates — sometimes 40–50% below July for 5-star rooms. The trade-off is real: this is typhoon season for Da Nang, and multi-day rain is a genuine possibility. If you have flexible dates and are watching for a weather window, this works. If you have fixed dates and one week off per year, it's a gamble.

January (after New Year) is an underrated window. Tet (Vietnamese New Year) typically falls in late January or February, and the period between Western New Year and Tet sees a noticeable price dip. Weather is drier than October but cooler than summer — beach swimming is possible, just not as warm.

When to Book

Peak season (July–August): Book 2–3 months in advance minimum for 5-star resorts, 6–8 weeks for 4-star. The good rooms go first and rates climb as dates approach. Same-day/last-minute availability exists but at premium pricing.

Shoulder season (March–May, September): 3–4 weeks advance is usually sufficient. Last-minute deals sometimes appear on shoulder weekdays — Mondays and Tuesdays see noticeably lower rates than weekends throughout the year.

Low season (October–November): Flexible last-minute booking works here. Hotels have availability and sometimes offer rate reductions not visible on OTAs if you call direct or use Booking.com's last-minute filters.

Tet (Vietnamese New Year): Book early. Vietnamese domestic travel peaks at Tet and the week before. If your dates overlap with Tet, treat it like peak season regardless of the calendar month — 2026 Tet falls in late January.

Day of week: Across all tiers, Saturday and Sunday see higher occupancy and slightly higher rates. For longer stays, checking in Monday–Wednesday and out Thursday often produces the best average nightly rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest month to book a hotel in Da Nang?

October and November are the cheapest months — 5-star resorts often run 35–45% below July peak rates. However, this is Da Nang's rainy and typhoon season. The best value that doesn't require a weather gamble is January (post-New Year) or March–April.

How much does a 5-star hotel in Da Nang cost per night?

In shoulder season (March–May), expect $190–320/night for established 5-star Non Nuoc resorts like the Hyatt Regency, Marriott, or Sheraton Grand. Peak season (July–August) pushes the same hotels to $260–420. The InterContinental on Son Tra typically runs $300–500+ year-round due to its unique positioning.

Is Da Nang cheaper than Bali or Phuket for hotels?

Yes, consistently 30–50% cheaper for comparable 4- and 5-star properties. A beachfront 4-star in Da Nang runs $90–130/night in shoulder season; the equivalent in Seminyak or Patong runs $120–200. The gap is widest at the luxury tier — Da Nang's best resorts (Hyatt, Marriott, InterContinental) are priced significantly below comparable Bali or Phuket properties.

Does Da Nang have a shoulder season?

Yes. March–May is the primary shoulder season — dry weather, lower prices than summer, smaller crowds. September is a secondary shoulder (weather declining, prices dropping) but typhoon risk begins. Both are significantly cheaper than July–August peak.

Are Da Nang hotel prices cheaper on weekdays?

Marginally, yes. The difference is most pronounced at 3- and 4-star city hotels (Monday–Thursday can run 10–15% cheaper than weekends). For 5-star resorts, the weekend premium is smaller — resort guests typically stay multiple nights and weekend vs weekday pricing is less variable.
