Honestly? Da Nang is one of the easiest cities in Southeast Asia to travel with kids. The beaches are calm, the food is cheap and good, taxis are everywhere, and the resorts here are genuinely set up for families, not just "we have a kids menu" family-friendly, but actual pools, actual waterparks, actual activities.
The most common question I get from families: "Is Non Nuoc Beach safe for kids?" The answer is yes in the March–August dry season — the beach is calmer than My Khe, lifeguards are present at the big resorts, and the water is genuinely swimmable most days. In October and November, red flag days happen frequently — worth knowing before you book a beach-focused family trip.
The Sheraton Grand has Da Nang's best kids water complex by a meaningful margin. The Hyatt has better pool-to-guest ratios. Mikazuki is the best value for families who want a Japanese-themed water park experience. I've laid out the differences honestly below.
The three picks below cover different situations. If your kids are the type who could spend three days in a waterpark and never ask to leave, Mikazuki is the obvious answer and worth planning your whole trip around. If you want a chill beach base without spending a lot, Four Points is solid. And if you want to be right in the middle of everything, restaurants, the beach strip, easy Grab rides, Muong Thanh puts you there at a price that won't hurt.
None of these are obscure. Locals recommend all three regularly. They're just not always the ones that show up first on travel blogs.
If Mikazuki is in the budget, plan at least two nights. One day isn't enough to get through everything, especially with younger kids who take time to warm up to the slides. Weekdays are noticeably quieter than weekends.
With young kids, the resort vs location tradeoff tips decisively toward resort. Mikazuki has the most complete children's water park infrastructure of any Da Nang resort. If your kids are at an age where they'll spend most of the trip in a pool or waterpark, Mikazuki is worth the distance from the city.
For families who want resort facilities but also want to eat out and explore: Hyatt Regency at Non Nuoc is the better balance. Kids pool, direct beach access, good on-site food, and it's a 15-minute Grab to the city.
If you need a family room in a beach hotel without the full resort price, Sheraton Grand has connecting rooms and is directly on My Khe with the An Thuong food street nearby — which matters when you have a picky eater.
— Ryan Yousefi, editor, resident since 2021Da Nang family hotels are best for
- Kids who want a waterpark (Mikazuki)
- Families wanting beach + pools at resort scale (Hyatt, Sheraton)
- Parents who want to eat out — An Thuong food street is 10 min away
- Multi-gen trips where some adults want spa and others want kids club
Consider elsewhere if
- Travelling October–November (typhoon season, rain every day)
- You need a specifically baby/toddler beach (gentler waves in Phu Quoc)
- You want all-inclusive pricing with meals bundled

Best Family Hotel Picks
- Mikazuki's waterpark has age/height restrictions on some slides. Check before arriving with very small children.
- Da Nang's beach flags are reliable. Green = safe to swim. Red = do not enter the water. This matters more than what the hotel tells you.
- The beach at Non Nuoc (Hyatt area) tends to have smaller waves than central My Khe — slightly more predictable for young swimmers.
- Most 4–5 star resorts offer children's menus and can accommodate dietary restrictions with notice.
- Grab works well for family groups. A standard car seats 3–4 passengers comfortably. Book Grab 7-seater for larger families.
- Consider a mid-trip day at Ba Na Hills Sun World — it's a full day out that kids tend to enjoy, 30 min from the city.
Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resorts & Spa
This is the one. If you have kids who are old enough to go on slides, just book this and don't overthink it. Mikazuki has an enormous indoor-outdoor waterpark, heated indoor pools, outdoor slides, a lazy river, arcades, a wave pool, the works. It's operated by a Japanese company so everything is clean, organised, and well-run. Most families I know who've stayed here say their kids refused to leave.
The catch: it's about 25 minutes south of the main My Khe Beach strip, past the Marble Mountains. You're not walking to restaurants at night. That's a real consideration. But honestly, you won't need to, the resort has plenty of dining on-site, and for a 2-day staycation focused entirely on the kids having the time of their lives, the location doesn't matter at all. If you can go on a Tuesday or Wednesday, do it. Weekends get loud and crowded fast.
The best waterpark resort in Da Nang by a significant margin. Indoor and outdoor pools, multiple slides, a lazy river, wave pool, arcade games, kids genuinely don't want to leave. Clean, well-organised, and operated by a Japanese hospitality group. It's not in the main tourist corridor, so plan accordingly: this is a destination stay, not a base for exploring. Two nights minimum makes much more sense than one.
Best for: families who want the waterpark to be the holiday, not an add-on. Book weekdays if possible.
Mikazuki is the outlier in Da Nang's family hotel market — it was built specifically for families with kids, with waterslides and Japanese-style family rooms. Nothing else in Da Nang is designed quite like it. If you have under-10s, it's worth looking at first.
Four Points by Sheraton Danang
Four Points sits on the quieter, less crowded northern stretch of My Khe Beach, away from the bar noise and the weekend crowds that build up around the Dragon Bridge end. The pool is genuinely good, the beach access is direct, and the rooms are clean and spacious without anything to complain about. It's a Sheraton property, so the quality floor is reliable.
This is the pick if you want a comfortable beach holiday at a price that doesn't require a second mortgage. Nothing flashy, nothing missing. You'll spend your days at the pool or the beach, eat well at the nearby restaurants, and pay a reasonable amount for the privilege. For families who don't need a waterpark and just want a solid base near the ocean, this is the sensible call.
Sits on the calmer, less touristy end of My Khe Beach. Great pool, direct sand access, reliable international hotel standards at a price that makes sense. Not trying to be anything it's not, and that's the appeal. Nearby restaurants are good and easy to walk to. Grab rides to the main beach strip or city centre are cheap and quick.
Best for: families who want a proper beach holiday without paying resort prices, and prefer fewer crowds.
"Four Points by Sheraton gives families the Sheraton name and My Khe beachfront at a price that doesn't require justifying every line item to your partner. For most families, that's the exact brief."
Muong Thanh Luxury Da Nang Hotel
Muong Thanh is the answer when location is the priority. It sits directly across the street from the beach on the main My Khe strip, you walk out the lobby and you're 60 seconds from the sand. Restaurants, cafés, the evening seafood spots, everything is within walking distance. The infinity pool on the upper floors has a genuinely good view, and the breakfast buffet is the kind of spread that keeps kids happy and parents from having to think about the first meal of the day.
Muong Thanh is a Vietnamese hotel chain, which means the price is better than equivalent international brands and the service has a local warmth that some of the big foreign chains don't quite match. It's consistently one of the better-value options on the whole strip. For families who want to be in the middle of everything, grab food easily, reach the beach in two minutes, and not spend a fortune, this is the pick.
The best location-to-price ratio on My Khe Beach. Directly across from the sand, infinity pool with a view, and a breakfast buffet that genuinely covers everything. Vietnamese-owned chain so the pricing is honest, you're not paying a foreigner premium. Everything you'd want for a family beach holiday is within walking distance. Kids can get to the beach in two minutes; parents can eat at a proper restaurant without getting in a taxi.
Best for: families who want to be in the middle of all the action and eat their way around the beach strip without burning money.
