Brilliant Hotel Da Nang Review
I've watched the Dragon Bridge breathe fire from the Brilliant's rooftop bar, and at $75 a night with that view, it's hard to argue with the value.
The Brilliant is a Han River tower property with a rooftop bar and pool, and it occupies the 'good Han River views at a budget-conscious rate' position in the Da Nang market. It's not trying to compete with the Hilton on brand or the Novotel on conference facilities — it's offering upper-floor river views and central location at rates that make the bigger names look expensive.
The rooftop bar is genuinely worth the trip up, even if you're not staying here. Cocktails are decent, the views of the Han River and Dragon Bridge are excellent, and on Friday/Saturday nights when the bridge does its fire-breathing show, you're watching it from probably the best elevated civilian vantage point in the city. Tables fill up — book ahead for weekends.
A few things to know going in: the room design feels dated in places, the rooftop bar noise carries to upper floors on weekend nights, and there's no meaningful loyalty programme. Know those trade-offs and the Brilliant represents solid value for the river view and location it delivers.
Location & Getting There
Han River, central Da Nang. Walking distance to the Dragon Bridge, Bach Dang Street seafood restaurants, the Han Market, and the main city-centre attractions. Airport 20 minutes. Beach 4km east — taxi for a beach day, not walkable. Same city-hotel trade-off as the Hilton and Novotel. For Da Nang city exploration, the location is excellent.
The Rooms
River-view rooms on upper floors are the reason to be here — the Han River panorama at night, with the Dragon Bridge visible on the right, is one of the better city-hotel views available in Da Nang at this rate. Rooms run 35–45sqm. Design is contemporary but not cutting-edge in places — you feel the age in some categories. Rates from around $70–100/night are competitive for the river-view, rooftop-bar combination. No major loyalty programme.
Pool, Beach & Facilities
Rooftop pool with Han River views — small, more visual than functional, but it works for an evening dip. The rooftop bar and pool area is the property's social centre. Gym is adequate. No beach access on property.
Food & Drink
Breakfast handles the basics adequately. The rooftop bar is the F&B event — worth using for evening drinks regardless of whether you're a hotel guest. For proper dinner, Bach Dang Street is a 10-minute walk and consistently more interesting than anything the hotel kitchen produces. The city is your restaurant here.
Punches above its price for the Han River view rooms. If a rooftop bar view of the Dragon Bridge at $75/night sounds like enough — and it usually is — the Brilliant delivers it reliably.
