Grand Mercure Da Nang Review
The Grand Mercure is the Da Nang hotel that regular visitors tell first-timers about — 'you probably haven't heard of it but the rooms are enormous and the views are better than the Hilton.'
I'm going to make the room size argument directly because it's the Grand Mercure's strongest card: standard categories here run 55–65sqm. That's not just 'large for Da Nang' — it's large by any international hotel standard at a four-star rate. You get a living area, a proper desk, a real soaking tub, and a balcony that has room for a full breakfast without squeezing.
The location is a slightly unusual in-between position — the northern edge of the Han River area, close enough to the My Khe coastal road that beach access is within walking or short Grab distance (neither pure city-centre nor pure beach). For visitors who want to split time between city exploration and beach days without committing fully to either, it's a genuinely useful compromise.
And the views. Ocean-facing rooms looking east toward My Khe at sunrise, or river-facing rooms looking west toward the Han River at night — either direction is impressive from the upper floors. At $95/night, the view-to-rate ratio is hard to beat in this city.
Location & Getting There
Northern Han River district, close to the My Khe coastal road. This gives the Grand Mercure an unusual middle-ground position — Han River views on one side, beach 1.5km away on the other. Not as centrally urban as the Novotel for pure city access, not as beach-immersive as the My Khe strip proper. For visitors who want both worlds, it works. For visitors who want one world specifically, there are better-positioned options.
The Rooms
This is the headline: rooms are large. Standard categories at 55–65sqm feel genuinely generous. The ocean-view rooms facing east toward My Khe are among the best hotel views in Da Nang at this price point. River-view rooms looking west are also strong. Contemporary design, quality furnishings, excellent beds. Accor ALL benefits apply. Rates from around $90–130/night in shoulder season.
Pool, Beach & Facilities
Rooftop pool with panoramic views — one of the better city-hotel pool experiences in Da Nang. Gym is well-equipped. Spa with solid therapist quality. Meeting rooms for business events. Beach is 15 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by Grab — more accessible than pure city-centre properties, more effort than dedicated beach hotels.
Food & Drink
Main restaurant handles breakfast and dinner with solid Vietnamese options and a competent Western spread. Rooftop bar for evening drinks — worth using for the view alone. The proximity to My Khe beach restaurants and An Thuong provides good off-site dining options within easy Grab distance.
An underrated property with standout room sizes and strong view quality. Often the best Accor option in Da Nang for the combination of room quality and location flexibility. Compare with the Hilton if you want pure city-centre, or the Sheraton if you want pure beachfront.
