Novotel Da Nang Han River Review
There's a version of the 'where should I stay in Da Nang' conversation where the answer is just: the Novotel, and here's why.
Not everyone coming to Da Nang wants a beach resort. Some people are here for a few nights, want to be central, need reliable sleep, and don't need to be spending $160/night to get it. For that trip profile — and it's a common one — the Novotel Han River is the most sensible hotel in the city.
It's central. The beds are genuinely good (Novotel's 'Sweet Bed' positioning is one of those brand promises that actually delivers in practice). The location means you walk to the Dragon Bridge, walk to the best seafood on Bach Dang Street, and walk back without needing a taxi. And the rates are substantially below the Hilton next door for a broadly similar experience.
It's not exciting. The food on-site is forgettable. The pool is a rooftop affair that's more of a dip pool than a swim pool. But if you're in Da Nang for city exploration and need a reliable, well-located base at a reasonable rate, the Novotel solves the problem without complications.
Location & Getting There
Han River, central Da Nang. Walking distance to Dragon Bridge, the Han Market, the Bach Dang seafood strip, and the main city-centre attractions. Airport is 20 minutes. Beach is 4km east — manageable for a beach day by Grab, but this is fundamentally a city hotel. The Novotel is also Da Nang's best-equipped conference hotel, which makes it the default choice for anyone organising or attending a business event here.
The Rooms
Standard Novotel formula: practical, clean, optimised for sleep quality. Rooms run around 35sqm. River-facing rooms on upper floors get the Han River panorama and are worth the marginal rate upgrade. Lower floors and city-side rooms are functional but the view is unremarkable. The beds are the standout in any Novotel and this one is no different — proper mattress, good pillows, blackout curtains that work. Accor ALL benefits apply. Rates from around $80–100/night.
Pool, Beach & Facilities
Rooftop pool with Han River views — small but the panorama compensates. Gym is standard. The conference and meeting facilities are the most extensive of any Da Nang city-centre property. No beach access, no kids' club. This is a city hotel and it doesn't pretend otherwise.
Food & Drink
Breakfast does the job. The main restaurant covers the bases. Nothing here is memorable. The real argument is that you're 5 minutes walk from Bach Dang Street — go there for dinner every night and you'll eat better than any in-hotel option in Da Nang at a fraction of the cost. The city is the restaurant.
Does exactly what a Novotel should do. Not an exciting choice but consistently competent. If budget allows for the upgrade, compare with the Hilton. If it doesn't, the Novotel is the smart call.
