A La Carte Da Nang Beach Review
Best mid-range beachfront. Rooftop infinity pool with ocean views.
The A La Carte is the My Khe hotel that gets recommended most often by people who've actually stayed on this strip, not because it's flashy, but because the rooftop pool looks like it should cost more than it does.
It's a condo-style hotel which means the rooms are apartment-format with kitchenettes, not everyone's preference, but useful for longer stays. The rooftop infinity pool on the 22nd floor is the reason most people book here over the alternatives. From that height, the view over My Khe Beach is genuinely impressive.
I'd walked past the A La Carte three times before finally staying there, always assuming the view from the top was a marketing image. It's not. On a clear morning the South China Sea runs the full width of the horizon and you can see the Marble Mountains southeast. It's one of the better hotel views in the city.
The building is showing its age in places, this isn't a new property, but the management keeps it well-maintained and the service is notably more engaged than at the bigger anonymous resorts. Staff remember you by day two.

Location & Getting There
20 Vo Nguyen Giap, Ngu Hanh Son, directly on My Khe Beach at the An Thuong end of the strip. This is the right end of My Khe to be on: An Thuong restaurant and bar district is a 5-minute walk north, giving you walkable access to Da Nang's best concentration of independent restaurants without needing a Grab every time you want dinner.
Airport is 18–20 minutes by Grab. Da Nang city centre (Han River, Dragon Bridge, markets) is 15–18 minutes. Hoi An is 35–40 minutes south. The Marble Mountains are a 15-minute Grab. Non Nuoc's big resort strip starts about 2km south, close enough for a day trip, far enough that you won't be sharing infrastructure.
The An Thuong walking advantage is real. After a week at a Non Nuoc resort where every dinner involves a taxi, being able to walk to Nen, Luna Pub, or the My Khe seafood places in 5 minutes changes the texture of the trip meaningfully.
The Rooms
Condo-hotel format means every room has at least a kitchenette with microwave and small fridge, a separate living area, and more space than a standard hotel room at this price point. The standard category runs around 55sqm, generous for My Khe. Upper-floor rooms facing the sea are the ones to book. The view difference between a 10th-floor ocean room and a city-side room on the same floor is dramatic.
Furniture is showing age but the rooms are clean and properly maintained. Beds are comfortable. Blackout curtains work. AC is quiet and powerful, important in Da Nang summers where rooms that don't cool properly are a genuine problem. Bathrooms are functional, not luxurious: showers are good, tubs are not the focus.
The kitchenette becomes genuinely useful on a trip longer than 3 nights. Grabbing fruit and yoghurt from a convenience store and having morning coffee on your balcony while looking at the South China Sea is a better start to the day than a crowded hotel breakfast buffet, and it's cheaper. Rates run $90–130/night depending on season and floor.

Pool, Beach & Facilities
The rooftop pool on the 22nd floor is the property's defining feature and it delivers. It's an infinity edge facing the ocean, not enormous, but the horizon view from the pool deck is the kind of thing you take photos of and then realise photos don't do it justice. Early morning before 9am you often have it to yourself. By 11am it fills up.
Beach access is direct, cross the road and you're on My Khe. The beach here is well-maintained by Vietnamese municipal standards with regular cleaning and lifeguard presence during peak season. Waves pick up from June onwards; July–August sees consistent surf. The pool becomes the primary swimming option in that period.
Spa is small but serviceable. Gym is adequate for the price point. No kids' club, this property attracts mostly couples and solo travellers rather than families, and the rooftop pool atmosphere reflects that. No waterslides, no lazy rivers, no supervised play areas.

Food & Drink
In-house restaurant handles breakfast competently, a reasonable spread, better than many My Khe properties at this price point. The rooftop bar is the real food-and-drink asset: cocktails with a sunset view over the South China Sea is a legitimate evening. Prices are slightly elevated by Da Nang standards but reasonable given what you're looking at.
For serious eating, the An Thuong proximity is the property's food advantage. Within a 5-minute walk you have Nen (Vietnamese contemporary, one of the best kitchens in Da Nang), Luna Pub (craft beer, good burgers), and a cluster of seafood places on the My Khe strip where 200,000–400,000 VND feeds two people well. The hotel dining supports you; An Thuong completes you.
The minimarket at the base of the building covers breakfast basics, beach snacks, and cold beer at non-hotel pricing. Worth knowing about for early mornings.
The rooftop pool view is the real product, everything else is competent support. At $100/night in shoulder season, it's hard to beat that ratio on My Khe.
The Good Stuff
- 22nd-floor rooftop infinity pool with unobstructed South China Sea views
- Condo format means more space than standard hotel rooms at the price point
- An Thuong restaurant district within 5-minute walk, the best food access on My Khe
- Staff engagement and service quality above the norm for this tier
- Direct beachfront on well-maintained My Khe section
Watch Out For
- Building is ageing, not a flaw if you know it going in, but not a design-forward property
- Rooftop pool gets crowded from 10am onwards in peak season
- Room interiors functional rather than stylish, won't win design awards
- No kids' club or resort-style family facilities
Who Should Stay Here
Couples and adult travellers who want beach proximity with genuine restaurant access. Anyone doing 4+ nights who wants more space than a standard hotel room. Guests who want My Khe location without paying Non Nuoc rates. Wrong choice for beach purists who want a quieter resort stretch.
