Da Nang Hotel Guide

Hotel Review Methodology

Last updated: May 2026

This page explains how we research, evaluate, and rank hotels on Da Nang Hotel Guide. The criteria below reflect what actually matters when choosing a hotel in Da Nang — not generic five-star ratings, but the specific variables that determine whether a property is right for a given traveler type.

Independence note: Hotels do not pay to be reviewed or ranked on this site. We do not accept free stays in exchange for coverage. Affiliate commission from Booking.com has no influence on how hotels are ranked. Full details in our Editorial Policy.

What We Assess

Location Accuracy

We verify "beachfront" and proximity claims from maps and visitor data, not hotel marketing copy. The difference between direct sand access and "near the beach" matters significantly in Da Nang.

Beach Access Quality

Which stretch of beach? Is it swimmable year-round? Are there rip currents in certain seasons? Is the sand clean? Is there a road to cross?

Pool Quality

Number of pools relative to room count, whether there are dedicated children's pools, pool size, and whether the pool gets overcrowded on weekends.

Current Value

Hotels are assessed at their current booking price, not their launch price or a historical average. A hotel's value rating reflects what it offers at what it currently costs.

Who It Suits

Every hotel review identifies the traveler types this property serves well — and the types for whom a different option would be better. No hotel is right for everyone.

Walkability

Can you walk to restaurants, cafes, and the beach without relying on Grab for every trip? Important for families and for travelers who prefer to explore on foot.

Family Suitability

Specific assessment for families: kids clubs, connecting rooms, waterpark facilities, children's menus, beach safety, and whether staff are genuinely equipped for young guests.

Honest Trade-offs

Every property has trade-offs. We identify them directly: road noise, limited parking, slow Wi-Fi, aggressive upselling, distant location from the city. These aren't buried.

Transport Distance

Realistic Grab costs and travel times from the hotel to the Dragon Bridge, Marble Mountains, and Da Nang Airport. "Convenient location" is quantified, not assumed.

Review Pattern Analysis

When we haven't personally visited a property, we analyze guest review patterns across multiple booking platforms to identify consistent strengths and persistent weaknesses.

Our Rating Scale

We don't use a numerical scoring system because a single number compresses too much information that varies by traveler type. Instead, each review provides:

How Rankings Are Determined

Category rankings (e.g. "Best Luxury Hotels in Da Nang") are ordered by overall quality and value within that category — not by commission rate. The top-ranked hotel in any category is the one we'd most confidently recommend to someone who fits that category's traveler profile.

Rankings are not static. A hotel that was ranked third last year may rank first this year after a renovation, or drop entirely after sustained quality decline. We review rankings annually at minimum and update when significant changes occur.

What We Don't Do

Personal Visits

Ryan Yousefi has personally stayed at or inspected many of the properties on this site. Where a review is based on a personal stay, this is noted. Where a review is based on analysis of available data and review patterns without a personal stay, this is also noted. We believe in being transparent about the basis of our assessments.
