Da Nang's bar scene has matured considerably since 2022. What was once a handful of expat pubs and one famous rooftop has become a layered mix of serious cocktail bars, craft beer taprooms, rooftop terraces, live music venues, and a growing number of hidden speakeasies that most tourists never find.
This guide covers 25 bars across every category — ranked within each type, with honest notes on atmosphere, pricing, and who each place actually suits. The hidden bar section at the bottom covers spots that require a little more effort but reward the search.

What It Actually Feels Like
Da Nang's Bar Scene in 2026
The bar scene here has quietly matured into something real. Vietnamese bartenders trained in Singapore and Bangkok have come back and opened cocktail bars that actually impress. The rooftop views are legitimate — Sky36 on the 36th floor isn't a marketing claim, the Han River and coastline really do stretch out below you. The craft beer is brewed in-city at 7 Bridges. The hidden bars are actually hidden. What you won't find is a tourist strip: this city's nightlife is distributed, local, and better for it.

Drinking Culture in Da Nang
Da Nang is a Vietnamese city first. Bia hơi (fresh draught beer) and Larue — the local lager brewed here since 1909 — remain the dominant drinks for most residents. The expat and tourist bar scene sits alongside this, not above it. Understanding this distinction matters: the bars in this guide range from world-class cocktail bars with trained Vietnamese bartenders to rowdy backpacker pubs, and knowing what you want before you walk in saves disappointment.
The city's nightlife is concentrated in three main zones: the Han River waterfront (Bach Dang) for riverfront bars and live music; the An Thượng area behind My Khe Beach for expat pubs and neighbourhood bars; and the city centre (around Le Duan and Tran Phu) for cocktail bars, craft beer, and the hidden bar scene. Vo Nguyen Giap — the beachfront boulevard — has several rooftop options attached to hotels.
Grab etiquette: Always use Grab to get home. Drink-driving enforcement in Da Nang is active, fines are steep, and licence confiscation happens. A Grab car from any bar district to most hotels costs 60,000–120,000 VND. Save the app before your first night out.

Best Rooftop Bars in Da Nang
Da Nang's hotel rooftops are among Southeast Asia's best for the price point. The city's compact layout means views of the coast, the Han River, and the mountains are often available from the same terrace.
Rooftop #1
Sky36
36th floor, Novotel Da Nang Premier Han River · Han River
The highest bar in Da Nang and one of the most recognisable in Vietnam. Sky36 occupies the rooftop and pool deck of the Novotel, 36 storeys above the Han River, with unobstructed 360-degree views of the city, coast, and mountains. The crowd skews toward younger tourists and hotel guests. Cocktail quality is competent without being exceptional — you're paying for the altitude, and it's worth it at least once. The DJ nights on Friday and Saturday are legitimately good. Smart casual required after 8pm; flip-flops will get you turned away.

Rooftop #2
Gypsy Kitchen & Bar
Rooftop · Vo Nguyen Giap · Beachfront
More relaxed than Sky36, with better food and a stronger cocktail menu. Gypsy occupies a rooftop on the beachfront boulevard with views across the South China Sea and down the beach strip. The kitchen turns out decent Western and fusion plates — good enough to make an evening of it. Happy hour runs 4–7pm with substantial discounts on cocktails and draught beer. The crowd is a mix of expats, couples, and long-stay travellers. No dress code, no velvet rope.

Rooftop #3
A La Carte Rooftop Bar
A La Carte Da Nang Beach Hotel · My Khe Beach
The best-value rooftop in Da Nang. The A La Carte hotel's rooftop pool bar sits directly above My Khe Beach with front-on sea views and the kind of crowd you'd expect from a well-run beachfront property — relaxed, mixed ages, zero pretension. Cocktails are around 120,000–180,000 VND, craft beers available, the pool is available to bar guests for a modest fee. Sunsets from the west-facing side hit the mountains. Arrive by 5:30pm for a good seat.

Best Cocktail Bars in Da Nang
Da Nang's cocktail bar scene has developed quickly. Several venues now employ bartenders trained at international competitions, and ingredient sourcing has improved significantly — local herbs, Vietnamese spirits, and housemade infusions appear across menus that would hold up in any major Asian city.
Cocktail #1
The Craftsman
City Centre · Tran Phu
Da Nang's most serious cocktail bar. Small, dark, and intentional — The Craftsman runs a seasonal menu of originals alongside a short list of classics executed correctly. The lead bartender has competed internationally and it shows: technique is sharp, ice is properly prepared, and the flavour combinations use Vietnamese ingredients without forcing the concept. Expect to pay 200,000–320,000 VND per cocktail. Not a place for shooters and buckets — a place for people who like good drinks in a quiet setting.

Cocktail #2
Waterfront Restaurant & Bar
Bach Dang · Han River waterfront
One of Da Nang's most enduring addresses — the Waterfront has been operating on the Han River since 2004 and remains one of the best spots in the city for a reliably good cocktail with a view. The terrace seats front-on to the river with the Dragon Bridge visible to the north. The menu is conservative but well-executed: classics, wine, draught import beers, and a full food menu that's genuinely worth ordering from. Ideal for a first-night drink or a relaxed evening without commitments.

Cocktail #3
Firgun Corner
An Thượng · Expat district
A corner bar in An Thượng that sits between cocktail bar and neighbourhood pub in the best possible way. Firgun has a rotating cocktail menu that takes creative risks, a small but curated spirit selection, and a genuinely friendly atmosphere that doesn't take itself too seriously. It's the kind of place where you order one drink and end up having four. Popular with expats and well-travelled Vietnamese professionals. No cover, no minimum spend, no attitude.

Best Craft Beer Bars in Da Nang
Vietnam's craft beer movement started in Ho Chi Minh City but has taken firm hold in Da Nang. The local expat community has driven demand for quality draught, and several venues now rotate taps weekly with Vietnamese-brewed craft and regional imports.
Craft Beer #1
7 Bridges Brewing Co.
Han River area · City Centre
Da Nang's most established craft brewery and the benchmark against which others are measured. 7 Bridges brews on-site, with a year-round lineup of IPAs, pale ales, wheat beers, and stouts supplemented by seasonal specials. The taproom is large, well air-conditioned, and serves a proper food menu — burgers, pizzas, Vietnamese-inspired plates — that makes it equally valid as a dinner venue. The IPA is consistently one of the best in central Vietnam. Order a tasting flight if you're new to their range.

Craft Beer #2
Oasis Taproom
An Thượng · Expat district
Pure craft beer focus — no cocktails, no wine list, no distractions. Oasis rotates 12–16 taps weekly, sourcing from Vietnamese craft breweries (Heart of Darkness, Pasteur Street, Fuzzy Logic), regional Asian producers, and occasional European imports. The staff know the beers and will guide you through the board. Pints run 80,000–130,000 VND depending on ABV and rarity. Small bar, so gets crowded Thursday through Saturday evenings. Arrive by 7pm for a guaranteed seat.

Craft Beer #3
Golden Pine Pub
Le Duan · City Centre
The expat institution on Le Duan — Golden Pine has operated longer than most bars in Da Nang and maintains its position through consistency rather than trends. Eight to ten taps including craft options and imported draught, a full pub food menu (the chips are excellent), quiz nights on Wednesdays, and a genuinely mixed crowd of long-term expats, English teachers, digital nomads, and passing travellers. Happy hour daily until 7pm: buy one, get one on draught. No surprises here — that's the point.

Best Live Music Bars & Pubs
Da Nang has more live music than its size suggests. The scene ranges from touring Vietnamese acts at large venues to acoustic sets at neighbourhood bars and jam sessions at expat pubs. Most live music happens Thursday through Sunday.
Live Music #1
On The Radio Bar
Bach Dang · Han River
The best live music venue on the river. On The Radio runs a full lineup of Vietnamese and occasional international acts Wednesday through Sunday — mostly rock, blues, and soul — with the stage visible from almost every seat in the two-storey venue. The sound system is properly mixed, which matters. Drinks are mid-range (cocktails around 150,000–200,000 VND), no cover charge, and the energy on weekend nights is the closest Da Nang gets to a genuine music bar atmosphere. Book a river-view table by phone on weekends.

Live Music #2
Murphy's Sports Bar
An Thượng · Expat district
The neighbourhood sports pub that also does live acoustic nights on Thursdays. Murphy's shows all major football, rugby, and cricket fixtures across multiple screens — broadcast quality is good and kick-off times are programmed in advance on their Facebook page. The bar carries Guinness on draught (rare in Da Nang), a reasonable food menu, and the Angus burger is genuinely good. A reliable mid-week option and the default destination for expats during Champions League nights.

Live Music #3
Simple Man Pub
An Thượng · Expat district
A small, good-natured pub in An Thượng that runs live acoustic sessions most nights and occasional full-band sets on weekends. Simple Man is cheap by Da Nang standards — draft beers around 30,000–45,000 VND, cocktails from 90,000 VND — and the vibe is accordingly no-frills and genuinely fun. The regulars are a mix of expat teachers, backpackers with longer timelines, and Vietnamese music fans. Wooden bar stools, decent playlists when the live acts aren't on, and no interest in impressing anyone.

Beach Bars & Pool Clubs
Beach Bar #1
Esco Beach Club
My Khe Beach · Non Nuoc area
Da Nang's most developed beach club — sun loungers, a pool, a proper bar and kitchen, and a DJ on weekends. Esco sits directly on My Khe with access to the sand. Day packages include a lounger and drink credits; the bar operates independently for walk-ins. Cocktails run 160,000–250,000 VND, the kitchen does light bites and grilled seafood. Best on weekday afternoons when it's quiet enough to actually enjoy. Weekend afternoons in peak season (June–August) fill by midday.

Beach Bar #2
Maia Beach Bar
Non Nuoc Beach · South of city
A quieter beach bar on the less-developed Non Nuoc section of coast, south of the main My Khe strip. Maia does cold beers, simple cocktails, and fresh coconuts from sun loungers directly on the sand. The crowd is smaller, the beach is cleaner, and the whole operation is more low-key than the beach clubs further north. Food is limited to snacks and grilled seafood — not a dinner option, but perfect for a long afternoon with a book.

Budget Bars & Backpacker Favourites
Budget #1
Bamboo 2 Bar
Bach Dang · Han River
Da Nang's closest thing to a backpacker bar — cheap drinks, bucket specials, a mixed international crowd, and the kind of energy that doesn't care what time it is. Bamboo 2 is on the riverfront, with a riverside terrace that fills from around 9pm. It's loud, it's chaotic, and it's exactly what it intends to be. Beers from 25,000 VND, cocktail buckets available, no dress code. Not a place for a quiet drink — a place for meeting strangers and staying out later than planned.

Budget #2
Luna Pub
An Thượng · Expat district
The late-night fallback in An Thượng — Luna stays open until 2am on weeknights and 3am on weekends, which makes it a regular last-stop destination for expats finishing elsewhere. Cheap beer, pool table, darts, and a jukebox that people actually use. Not trying to be anything other than a cheap place to keep drinking, and it succeeds at that completely. Larue and Tiger on tap around 25,000–35,000 VND, simple cocktails, no food.

Budget #3
Section 30
An Thượng · Expat district
Sports bar that crosses over into general neighbourhood pub territory. Section 30 runs multiple screens for live sport, a dart board, pool table, and a short menu of bar snacks. Happy hour is aggressive — buy two get one free on draught until 8pm. The name refers to the latitude of Da Nang. Crowd is mostly expats aged 25–45 and backpackers who've moved into An Thượng accommodation. Reliable for Premier League and NFL fixtures; the staff have the schedules memorised.

Local Pick
New Phuong Dong
Ngu Hanh Son district · South Da Nang
The most authentically Vietnamese bar in this guide — New Phuong Dong is where local residents actually drink. Large, loud, open-air seating, bia hơi on tap at 10,000–15,000 VND per glass, and a kitchen that produces the kind of late-night Vietnamese food that justifies the visit independently. Almost no English spoken, which is part of the appeal. Seats 200+, fills up by 7pm on weeknights. Order the grilled meat skewers and whatever's on tap. Zero tourist infrastructure — Google Translate is your friend.

Local Insight
The cocktail quality gap is closing fast. Three years ago, Da Nang's best cocktail was a well-made Negroni at Waterfront. Now The Craftsman, Tê Mixology, and Firgun House are producing menus that would hold up in any serious bar city. Order from the seasonal menu, not the classics list.
Tourist Mistake
Going to Sky36 expecting a local vibe. Sky36 is a hotel rooftop bar with tourist prices and a tourist crowd. It's worth visiting once for the view — but if you want genuine Da Nang bar culture, head to An Thượng or the hidden bar district. The real city is down there.
Worth the Extra Money?
Yes, for The Craftsman cocktails. At 280,000–320,000 VND per drink (~$11–13), The Craftsman is the most expensive bar in this guide. It's also the best cocktail in the city. Order from the bartender's recommendation, not the menu.
Secret Spots · Local Knowledge Required
Da Nang's Hidden Bars & Speakeasies
Da Nang has a small and genuine hidden bar scene — venues with no signs, unmarked entrances, or deliberate obscurity. These are not tourist traps with a gimmick door: they're bars that happen to operate without advertising because they don't need to. Most are run by Vietnamese bartenders with serious technique and a clientele of local professionals and in-the-know visitors. None require a reservation, but all are small — plan early on weekends.
The 1920's Lounge
Speakeasy · Prohibition Cocktails
Da Nang's most theatrical hidden bar — a Prohibition-era speakeasy with period décor, serious classic cocktails, and an unmarked entrance in the city centre. Enter through an unmarked door and descend. The bartenders are trained in the classics; the Negroni and Old Fashioned are benchmarks for the city. Cocktails 200,000–350,000 VND.
Tê Mixology
Hidden Cocktail Bar · Local Favourite
No signage, no Instagram presence, no tourist crowd — Tê is known almost exclusively by word of mouth among Da Nang's Vietnamese bar professionals. Tiny space, ten seats, serious cocktails using local herbs and house-infused spirits. The bartender-owner trained in Ho Chi Minh City. Find it on Google Maps and confirm it's open before you go.
2Bar
Hidden Bar · An Thượng Area
Hidden inside a building in An Thượng with minimal exterior marking. 2Bar draws a young Vietnamese crowd and serious cocktail drinkers who've heard about it through the local bar scene. The menu rotates and the bartenders take visible pride in the work. Prices are reasonable given the quality — around 150,000–220,000 VND per cocktail.
United Bar
Hidden Bar · City Centre
A low-profile spot in the city centre that has built a loyal local following without any apparent effort to attract tourists. The bar programme leans toward classics with Vietnamese twists. Small, intimate, and consistently well-run. Finding it is half the experience — the address is findable on Google Maps but the entrance requires confidence.
Vấn Cocktail Bar
Craft Cocktails · Local Scene
One of the more technically accomplished bars in Da Nang — Vấn's bartenders are local Vietnamese professionals who approach cocktail-making seriously. The menu is short and seasonal, with original recipes that use Vietnamese ingredients intelligently rather than gimmickly. Small space, warm atmosphere, priced accessibly at 130,000–200,000 VND per drink.
Fifty 9
Hidden Bar · Creative Cocktails
Fifty 9 operates on the fringe of the city centre bar district with minimal signage and a deliberately understated presence. The cocktail menu is creative and frequently updated — the bar takes its cue from Ho Chi Minh City's more adventurous cocktail scene. Popular with Vietnamese creatives and designers on weekend nights.
Black Wolf
Dark Bar · Serious Cocktails
The most deliberately hard-to-find bar in Da Nang — Black Wolf has a dark interior, minimal lighting, and a cocktail menu that skews toward spirit-forward drinks: whisky sours, Negronis, mezcal cocktails. The bar team are serious about their craft and it shows. Not for everyone, but if you like well-made drinks in a quiet, serious atmosphere, this is worth the search.
Getting Home Safely: The Grab Guide
Da Nang's drink-driving laws are enforced. The penalties include on-the-spot fines, licence confiscation, and in repeat cases, vehicle confiscation. More practically, Da Nang's roads after midnight include a non-trivial number of unlit vehicles and motorbikes. Use Grab.
Grab tips for a night out: Ensure your Grab app is set up and payment method loaded before your first drink. GrabBike is faster (3–5 min wait) and cheaper (40,000–70,000 VND most journeys). GrabCar is more comfortable for groups of 2–3 (70,000–130,000 VND). Both are available until 3am in most bar districts. Add your hotel address to Grab's saved places before going out.
All the major bar districts — Bach Dang, An Thượng, and Le Duan — have reliable Grab pickup spots directly outside. The app shows live driver positions. In the rare case of surge pricing after 1am on weekends, GrabBike will still be available and reasonably priced.
