What Kind of Hotel This Is
The Hilton Da Nang sits on the Han River, not on the beach — and that distinction matters more than it sounds. The river views at sunrise are good, genuinely good, with Dragon Bridge visible from the river-facing rooms and the Executive Lounge looking out over Da Nang Bay.
But the Han River itself runs brown during the day from red clay sediment in the water. Nobody warns you about this.
If you're picturing turquoise water from your room, you won't get it here.
What you do get is a well-positioned city hotel with airport access that rivals anything else in Da Nang (8 km, 12-minute taxi), a banh mi station at breakfast that I kept going back to, and a location 10 minutes from Dragon Bridge and 15 from Han Market by taxi. This is not a beach resort.
It's a city hotel with beach proximity, and it performs that role well.
The Rooms
The rooms are spacious and clean. Floor-to-ceiling windows work in your favor on the upper floors — the river views actually earn the room rate at that height, and the Executive Lounge floors give you complimentary breakfast plus evening cocktails, which changes the value calculation significantly for business travellers.
Standard rooms on lower floors are fine if you're not in them much; less impressive if you are.
The Executive Lounge has views of what the hotel accurately describes as "the nearby beach and Da Nang Bay." From that vantage point you understand the geography better than you do from the river — on a clear day you can trace the coastline south toward the Marble Mountains.
Breakfast
The breakfast buffet covers Vietnamese pho, Chinese, Korean, and Western dishes. The banh mi station is where I spent most of my time — a make-your-own setup with proper ingredients rather than hotel approximations.
The breakfast room is large, reasonably well-managed, though it gets crowded and noisy by 8:30am. If you can eat before 8, you'll have a more relaxed experience.
The Rooftop Bar
The rooftop bar delivers a better view than you might expect — city skyline, the river, and in the right light, the coast beyond. It's a reasonable place for cocktails at sunset if you want something that isn't a seafood grill on the beach strip.
The pool adjacent to it is small relative to what resort properties offer, but it does the job if you want a swim with a view rather than a proper lap.
What to Know Before You Book
The Hilton Da Nang makes sense if you want a reliable city base with quick airport transfer, Hilton Honors points, and easy access to Da Nang's food and cultural scene. It does not make sense if you want a beach resort experience — for that, head to the properties on My Khe Beach proper or the Non Nuoc stretch further south.
The brown river during daylight hours bothers some guests and not others. Know it's a feature of this stretch of the Han before you book a river-view room as the centerpiece of your stay.
- Airport is 8 km away — the fastest transfer of any quality Da Nang hotel
- Dragon Bridge and Han River views from upper floors
- Executive Lounge with complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails
- Strong Hilton Honors value for loyalty members
- Banh mi station at breakfast worth writing home about
- 10-minute taxi to Dragon Bridge, 15 to Han Market
- Han River runs brown during the day — not the crystal water some guests expect
- Not a beach hotel; My Khe Beach requires a short taxi
- Pool is small and limited compared to beach resort competitors
- Breakfast area gets crowded and loud after 8:30am
Would I Stay Again?
For the right trip, yes. If I'm doing a city-focused stay — Dragon Bridge at night, street food runs, museum visits, day trip to Hoi An — the Hilton makes sense.
If I'm going to Da Nang for beach time and resort living, I'd choose something on the sand. This hotel does what it is very well.
You just need to know what it is before you book.

Is the Hilton Da Nang Worth Staying At?
For most travellers visiting Da Nang, yes. The Hilton strikes one of the best balances in the city between beach access, location convenience, and brand reliability.
The rooftop pool is a genuine highlight, the airport transfer is the fastest of any quality hotel in Da Nang at just 8 km, and the My Khe Beach strip directly outside the hotel gives guests immediate access to some of the best seafood restaurants in Vietnam. It is not a resort and should not be booked as one, there is no sprawling pool complex or jungle spa.
But as a city beach hotel that allows you to explore Da Nang properly while sleeping next to the ocean, it is hard to beat at its price point.
Nearby Attractions & Getting Around
One of Da Nang's advantages as a destination is how compact it is, most major attractions are within 20–30 minutes of any hotel in the city. From Hilton Da Nang, key landmarks and beaches are easy to reach by taxi or GrabCar, and both services are reliable, metered, and inexpensive by international standards.
- My Khe Beach, On-site. Direct beach access, one of the best urban beaches in Southeast Asia.
- Dragon Bridge, 10 min taxi. Da Nang's most iconic landmark, fire-breathing show on Friday and Saturday nights.
- Han Market, 15 min taxi. The city's main covered market for local produce, textiles, and street food.
- Han River Waterfront, 12 min taxi. Riverside promenade with restaurants, the Swing Bridge, and night views.
- Son Tra Peninsula, 20 min taxi north. Forested headland with the Lady Buddha statue and ocean viewpoints.
- Marble Mountains, 20 min taxi south. Five limestone hills with ancient temples and caves.
